Irene Vermooten

I’m Irene, a Clinical Psychologist with 25 years of experience in private practice, fully registered with AHPRA and a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Clinical College. I’m also the clinic director and a board-approved supervisor. I treat each of my clients and team members with warmth, kindness, and respect. My career has been rich and diverse, treating clients across all stages of life—from children to the elderly. I’m particularly interested in working with individuals with trauma, personality disorders, ADHD and children.

I have three core purposes that drive me:

  1. Passion for Psychology and Healing: At my core, I’m dedicated to psychology and the profound impact it can have on improving lives. I’m committed to helping as many people as possible overcome their pain and the barriers imposed by their past. My goal is for individuals to lead healthier, happier lives and become the best versions of themselves, free from the pain that once held them back.
  2. Creating an Exceptional Workplace Culture: I take great pride in building a practice that embodies an amazing culture. It’s vital to me that my team feels supported, happy, and stimulated. I believe a positive workplace environment reflects in the quality of care provided to our clients.
  3. Supporting Early Career Psychologists: I’m invested in the professional development of early career psychologists. At The Mood & Mind Centre, we’ve established a training and supervision program specifically designed to nurture their skills and boost their confidence. As a board-approved supervisor, there’s nothing more rewarding than overseeing the growth and development of fellow psychologists.

An area particularly close to my heart is supporting individuals with ADHD, as I navigate the journey myself. My personal experiences fuel my dedication to helping others understand their diagnosis and discover strategies to manage ADHD effectively.

Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychological services. This commitment extends to working collaboratively with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. As a registered provider for the NDIS, QPS and WorkCover, I’ve also accumulated substantial experience in treating clients within these systems, aiding them in their return to the workforce after psychological injuries.

At the heart of my practice is a desire to see individuals lead fulfilling lives by overcoming the obstacles that limit them. Through building new skills to manage challenging thoughts and emotions, and guiding clients in aligning their actions with their values, I strive to make a meaningful difference in each life I touch.
